Tree trimming, palm work, removal and stump grinding for Eastvale homes and HOAs, with work in the public right-of-way handled through City permits.

Background: stock photo

We provide tree service in Eastvale, CA, including tree trimming and structural pruning, palm frond cleanup, tree removal and stump grinding for homes and HOA communities from The Ranch to the Hamner Avenue corridor. Work on a street or parkway tree in the public right-of-way needs a right-of-way or encroachment permit from the City, and many Eastvale parkways and common areas are maintained by HOAs or landscape districts. We work on trees on your lot and help you sort out who owns the rest. Call (909) 479-2614.

Eastvale's tree rules

Eastvale is one of the newer cities in the region, incorporated in 2010, and most of its homes were built in the 2000s. Trees in the public right-of-way are covered by the City's right-of-way and encroachment permit process, administered by Public Works. See Eastvale's right-of-way and encroachment permits page for details, or contact the City of Eastvale.

Healthy trees entirely on private property generally do not need a City permit to remove, but HOA covenants often control front-yard trees, so check with your association first. Dead, diseased or hazardous trees can also be a code issue if they are neglected.

Young trees in a young city

Because Eastvale is so new, most of its trees are young and growing fast. That is good news. Young trees are the cheapest and easiest to shape, and structural pruning now prevents weak branch unions, split trunks and limbs over roofs later. Common species include Chinese pistache, crape myrtle, jacaranda, Brisbane box, ash and a lot of palms, especially Mexican fan palms and queen palms.

The most common problem we see is a tree planted too close to the house or a wall in a narrow side yard. Those often need clearance pruning every couple of seasons, or removal and replacement with a smaller species.

Parks, the river and neighborhoods

Eastvale's parks are run by the Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District, and Eastvale Community Park is one of the city's main gathering places, with sports fields shaded by young trees. To the south, the Santa Ana River corridor forms the edge of the city, with riparian trees, open ground and trails. Homes along the river and the old dairy land near Harada Heritage Park sit closer to open space, where brush and wind are concerns.

Common tree jobs in Eastvale

  • Tree trimming and structural pruning on young trees.
  • Palm tree trimming on fan palms and queen palms, including fruit cluster removal.
  • Tree removal of trees planted too close to homes and walls.
  • Stump grinding after removals, so the yard can be replanted.
  • Clearance pruning over roofs, solar panels and pools.
  • HOA common-area tree work when the association hires us.

Working with HOAs

Many Eastvale neighborhoods have HOAs with landscape rules. Some require approval before you remove or replace a front-yard tree, and many maintain parkway and common-area trees themselves. Check your covenants and ask the association before scheduling work near the street. If the HOA is our client, we work with its manager on schedules and access.

Wind and heat

Eastvale's open ground and the river corridor let Santa Ana winds build, and summer heat is intense. Fast-growing young trees with dense canopies and palms with heavy skirts are the most common storm problems. If a tree or limb comes down, see emergency tree service.

Power lines

Most Eastvale neighborhoods have underground utilities, but older roads and the edges of the city still have overhead lines. Any tree within 10 feet of an overhead line must be made safe by Southern California Edison first. Call SCE at 1-800-611-1911.

We also serve neighboring Jurupa Valley and Chino, plus Ontario Ranch to the north. See all our service areas.

Trees in narrow side yards

Eastvale homes are often built close together, with narrow side yards and block walls on every property line. Trees planted in those strips grow into the eaves, the wall and the neighbor's roof within a few seasons. Their roots can lift pavers and push against footings. For those trees, there are two good options: regular clearance pruning to keep them in bounds, or removal and replacement with a small, narrow species or a large shrub. Our crews work in tight spaces with hand tools and compact equipment, and we carry brush out to the street for chipping.

Watering young trees

Young trees need regular deep watering for the first few seasons after planting, especially in Eastvale's summer heat. Drip lines placed at the trunk only reach a small part of the root zone, so as the tree grows, move emitters outward toward the edge of the canopy. Stressed young trees grow slowly, drop leaves and attract pests.

Solar panels and shade

Many Eastvale homes have rooftop solar. Branches that shade panels cut their output, and leaves and seeds pile up on them. Clearance pruning keeps limbs back from the panels without topping the tree.

Many Eastvale residents also ask us to remove volunteer trees growing along back walls before their roots get under the footing.

Common questions

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Eastvale?

For a tree in the public right-of-way, yes. Work there goes through the City's right-of-way and encroachment permit process. Healthy trees entirely on private property generally do not need a City permit, but many HOAs require approval for front-yard trees, so check with your association before scheduling a removal.

Why do young trees need pruning?

Young trees grow fast and often develop two competing main stems or crowded branches. Structural pruning while they are small guides them to one strong trunk and well-spaced limbs, which makes them far less likely to split in wind later. It is also much cheaper than correcting problems on a mature tree.

How do I deal with queen palm fruit?

Queen palms produce heavy clusters of orange fruit that drop and stain patios and pool decks. Removing the flower stalks and fruit clusters during a regular palm trim keeps the mess down. Queen palms also show nutrient problems in the heat, such as yellowing or frizzled fronds, so watch for those.
